Join us for a closing workshop inspired by A Constellation of Blacktivists, the current exhibition by artist Veronica Jackson on view in our Contemporary Gallery. This participatory experience invites community members of all ages to engage in a dynamic text collage workshop where words become acts of resistance, remembrance, and celebration.
Through a series of reflective and energizing prompts generated by Veronica, such as “BLACK JOY IS…,” participants will respond using language drawn from personal memory, collective history, and radical imagination. These responses will be transformed into striking broadside-style prints, combining the immediacy of protest posters with the intimacy of personal testimony.
Using bold typography and collage techniques, each participant will design and take home their own broadside. Veronica will select a few works to display as a temporary community installation in the gallery.
Come create, reflect, and amplify the brilliance of Black resistance and joy through the power of words.
