The exhibition features work by African American artists working in all mediums from collections in Charlottesville. The 15 artists on view, whether defining themselves as a Black artist or as an artist who happens to be Black, engage the viewer in a conversation about the intersection of art practice and identity. Presented in Charlottesville Collects are works in all mediums and subject matter suggesting that artists are historical agents who create images that respond to a broader set of social codes.
Sunday at 6pm Delphine will be in conversation with Mamadou Dia, award winning Senegalese filmmaker, and we hope you will join in the conversation. We still have some slots open to attend in person, and we will be streaming the talk LIVE on our Facebook and YouTube pages simultaneously.
